Children With Disabilities

Based on UNICEF's flagship report, The State of the World's Children—a comprehensive annual assessment of the world's most vulnerable children—TeachUNICEF lesson plans help students gain a deeper knowledge of the issues facing children and youth around the world. By telling the story of Nodira as she copes with her disability—the grade-specific lesson plans illustrate the issues and challenges facing today's youth, as well as programs that are working to improve her life.

Rising Voices Series: The Flowing River

Filmed in rural Nicaragua, this video chronicles the lives of David Zamora Munoz and his brother Francisco in their community and school, a Child Friendly School. David, Francisco and their parents highlight the importance of the school, while the principal and teachers emphasize the unique elements of a Child Friendly School, such as its emphasis on inclusive education, gender equality, and sanitation. The Flowing River is in Spanish with English subtitles and is approximately 24 minutes in length.
